Schoodic Peninsula

The Schoodic Peninsula is the hidden gem of Acadia National Park. Visitors are treated to views of Cadillac Mountain and Mount Desert Narrows without the crowds or traffic sometimes found on the Island.

As a Mainer, I'm proud to introduce my first workshop on the beautiful Schoodic Peninsula. Join me on October 22-24, 2021 for a 3 day/2 night photo seminar on the Bold Coast of Maine. We've planned an incredible weekend for a small group of adventurers looking to practice their craft and learn a few new techniques.

Our group will visit the peninsula’s picturesque lighthouses, iconic rock features, and tranquil fishing villages each day. On the second night, you will also have the option to learn astrophotography in the most ideal conditions on the eastern United States.

This is going to be an incredible gathering, and I look forward to the images we create together in October.

What to expect

Accommodations at the historic Schoodic Institute allow us the opportunity to hold editing sessions and photo reviews in a classroom setting- all while being steps away from the scenes we’ve just photographed. It's a great chance to learn and apply new techniques within a small group of fellow creatives.

Once you arrive on the property, everything will be provided for you until your departure on the afternoon of the 24th. Each participant is invited to lodge overnight in a 2 or 4 bedroom suite to stay close for the nighttime photo excursions and early morning sunrise shoots.

Schoodic Institute boasts their own culinary team able to accommodate any dietary restrictions or requests. Participants can even look forward to eating that much sought after Maine lobster before the weekend is over.

When you sign up for a workshop, I will email you a registration confirmation, as well as the information you need to book your airfare. I’ll then be emailing you periodically with any pertinent information about the workshop, including checklists for clothing and recommended gear to bring, and even discounts for equipment you may want to acquire for this once in a lifetime trip.

In August, I will provide you with detailed travel itinerary to get you excited and thinking about the images you want to capture during the workshop. I’m always available to answer any questions you may have leading up to the workshop, simply call or email me and I’d be happy to connect.

What you will learn

I will be shooting alongside you, demonstrating our vision, technique and sharing our love and knowledge of the wildlife and the landscape. However, my priority is always YOU, and helping you get the best images YOU envision.

The biggest advantage of having small groups is the flexibility they provide. Smaller group sizes allow for customizing and adjusting both the schedule and agenda to suit the interests of the group, while being able to maintain the flexibility required by variable weather. This allows us to cover only those topics that you are all interested in, including:

• How to create aesthetically pleasing landscape photographs

• Astrophotography basics

• Slow Exposure photography

• Best use of equipment

• Digital Workflow

• Adobe Lightroom basics

• Image presentations and critiques

Tuition for the workshop is $1,295.00 USD for a single room accommodation in a shared apartment. Each Apartment has two bedrooms and one bathroom.

If you would like a share one of the apartments with a friend please let us know.

We also have the option of private accommodations for $1,545.

We also have the option of bringing along a non-shooting spouse or partner with you. The fee for this is $450 and provides you and your partner with a private apartment, and provides your partner with meals during the workshop. You can select this option on the checkout process. Please keep in mind that non-shooting partners are not able to join us on our photo outings.

You can select which type of accommodation you prefer during the checkout process.

I highly recommend Travel Insurance from a reputable insurance company. I have partnered with Squaremouth a website that allows you to compare multiple travel policies from multiple providers to choose the best one for you based on your needs and costs. Check them out here
